Family of Kim Kardashyan in Armenia

From April 8-12 Reality TV star, a famous model – Kim Kardashian and her sister Chloe Kardashian, her daughter and her husband, rapper Kanye West, arrived at the land of their ancestors on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

In the capital of Armenia, they took the next episode of the reality show “Family Kardashian” (Keeping Up with the Kardashians), dedicated to Armenian roots Kim.

The Kardashians also attended the Memorial Complex of Genocide in Tsitsernakaberd, put flowers to commemorate the memory of victims during the genocide.

Armenia and Yerevan impressed both the Kardashyan family and the whole team of assistants and stylist that arrived with them.

Visit of Christian Turks to Armenia

From April 10 to 13 Christian Turks made a series of visits to Armenia publicly apologized on behalf of the Turkish people for the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

During their stay Turks visited the Memorial of Genocide. Protestant Christians living in Turkey put flowers to the monument and with eyes full of tears once again made an apology to Armenian nation. Near the quenchless flame pastors prayed for Armenian and Turkish people.

“We beg you to forgive us for the crime of our ancestors. Forgive and pray for Turkey and the Turkish people for revival”, the pastors asked.

The presentation of the book “History of Armenia 100 Years Later” In the USA

In the USA on April 10, under the patronage of the Ambassador of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan hosted a presentation of the book of Matthew Karanyana “Historical Armenia 100 Years Later” in English.

125 photographs taken by Matthew Karanyanom in Bath, Ani, Kars and other historical areas of Western Armenia and also the history of these photos are published in this book. A special attention in this book is paid to stories of Armenians he met.

Matthew Karanyana dedicated his book to his two grandmothers and all Armenian woman survivors of inhuman suffering during the Genocide.

Pope Francis uses ‘genocide’ to refer to mass killings of Armenians by Turks

On April 12, Pope Francis risked Turkish anger on Sunday by using the word “genocide” to refer to the mass killings of Armenians a century ago under the Ottoman Empire.

“In the past century, our human family has lived through three massive and unprecedented tragedies,” the Pope said at a Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian massacres.

“The first, which is widely considered ‘the first genocide of the 20th century,’ struck your own Armenian people,” he said, referencing a 2001 declaration by Pope John Paul II and the head of the Armenian church.

PACE President to visit Armenia

President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Anne Brasseur will make an official visit to Armenia from 13 to 15 April 2015. In Yerevan, Ms Brasseur is due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Foreign Minister, PACE website reported. Ms Brasseur will also meet students of Yerevan State University.

President of France- Francois Hollande, president of Russia- Vladimir Putin, and Delegations from Poland, Switzerland  and other countries will Visit Tsitsernakaberd on April 24, 2015

France will be participating in the Armenian Genocide commemorations in Armenia on April 24. Francois Hollande will be arriving in Yerevan with quite a large delegation consisting of nearly 120 delegates.

April 24th marks the centennial of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey. A Swiss and Canadian delegations will also visit Armenia- Switzerland, to participate on April 24.

On the 24th of April 2015 Catholics and Protestants of Austria will hold an ecumenical Mass at the Cathedral of St. Stephen’s in Vienna. Divine service will be held with the participation of Cardinal Christoph Schönborn.

The heads of the existing churches in Austria will commemorate the victims of the Genocide of Christians – Armenians and Greeks of Pontus and Ionia.

Obama to Form the US Delegation to Come on April 24, 2015

On April 24, the day of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide the US official delegation will be in Tsitsernakaberd. Referring to the US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills, the members of the delegation will be appointed right by the US President Obama.

“Together with Armenia, the US is commemorating the memory of 1.5 million Armenians that were killed and deported during the last years of the Ottoman Empire. This tragedy must never be forgotten and we should keep their memory alive,” said the Amdassador.

Jengyalov Hac Festival

On April 29th in village Tsakhkashat of Askeran region the first ever festival of jengyalov hac will take place. Jengyalov Hac is one of the dishes of Karabakh cuisine (as well as Kapan and Goris). Jengyalov Hac is a flat bread stuffed with nearly 20 types of herbs. Preparing Jengyalov Hac is a ritual, the symbol of which is engaging close ones in the preparation of Jengyalov Hac, talking to them, sharing news and having a good time in a warm atmosphere.

Jengyalov hac is prepared in tonir. It becomes very popular especially in the period of fasting.

Armenia is in the list of most religious countries in the world

The Telegraph writes that it is already known which are the most and least religious countries in the world, referring to the. According to the survey two third of the population of the world is considered to be religious. About 65 thousand people from 65 countries took part in the survey.

According to the results  of the survey made by WIN/Gallup International concerning the most religious countries in the world, the most religious one is Thailand. 94% of respondents living in this country identify themselves as believers, 1% considers himself a convinced atheist. The second place is shared between Armenia, Bangladesh, Georgia and Morocco (93% each).

In religious terms the majority of believers of the Armenian population (94%) are Christians belonging to the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is worth mentioning that there are no major religious sects of fanatical believers.

St. Grigor Narekaci is proclaimed a Doctor of Universal Church

Pope Francis has declared a tenth century Armenian saint and mystic, Saint Gregory of Narek (Grigor Narekatsi), a Doctor of the Universal Church during the mass dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide in St. Peter’s Cathedral. “By his life and teaching , St. Gregory of Narek preached a teaching of beauty and the people appreciated the beauty of his words and his teaching. His continuous popularity is connected with his major work “The book of Lamentations” called “Narek” by the Armenian people, which is considered to be his most popular work among the Armenians” , said Cardinal.

After these Pope Francis, taking into account wish of numerous bishops and believers, proclaimed St. Gregory of Narek a Doctor of Universal Church.

On the 16th of May in the memorial complex Sardarapat in Armavir region a festival of dolma will take place. The aim of the festival is to popularize of Armenian traditional dish. Guests of the festival have a chance to taste different types of dolma and get to know some recipes for their preparation. Different competitions take place on that day, such as the most original recipe of this ancient dish. It is a treasure of a table in each Armenian both in weekdays and holidays. Guests can taste and give their assessment. On that day guests can also evidence the celebration of ritual and traditional dishes of Armenian people. The festival is accompanied with dances, songs and different events.

Vladimir Spivakov and National Philharmonic of Russia in Yerevan, 14-16, April, 2015

Worldwide known conductor Vladimir Spivakov arrived at Yerevan to put on several concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide.

National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia headed by Vladimir Spivakov will have concerts on the 14th, 15th and 16th of April 2015 in the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiarian. During the musical evening on April 14 Piano Concerto in A Major №12 and Requiem of Mozart will be featured, and on April 15 scenes from the madness of the world opera repertoire (Verdi, Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti and Puccini). On the 16th of April a multimedia project “Hour Chaplin” will be performed.

Exhibition “Armenian Genocide”

In the Art Academy in Yerevan there will be an exhibition of works by the artist Mher Khachatryan, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide.
